Boston Software Systems Announces Boston WorkStation Version 10

June 2, 2014

BOSTON, Mass. — Boston Software Systems, the leader in error-free automation technology for every healthcare application, today announced availability of the latest version of its leading automation platform, Boston WorkStation® Version 10. New features provide greater capabilities for Meditech Client/Server, specific functionality for electronic health record systems, performance reporting, and other enhancements.

“Boston WorkStation Version 10 punctuates Boston Software Systems’ leadership in automated workflow technology as more healthcare organizations turn to us for highly interoperable and flexible connectivity to the systems and applications used in the industry,” said Sara McNeil, president of Boston Software Systems. “This product is a focused response to the needs of the industry as the move to single electronic health record (EHR) systems becomes the standard. It represents our company’s experience with these systems and our understanding of their requirements and complexities.”

Boston WorkStation Version 10 offers a completely new connection to the Meditech Client/Server system using an approach that does not rely on row/column or pixel-oriented coordinates. This development provides universal connectivity more easily and reliably. It offers “learn as you go” automation, recording what is typed and much of what is clicked. It also offers embedded icons/graphics recognition.

“The HCISolution, Inc. was challenged with a very complex integration of Meditech 6.x Advanced Clinical Applications,” said Ken Hoffman, President of The HCISolution and 24 year veteran of integration projects. “The dynamic nature of these applications does not allow typical scripting practices of row, column or label predictability. As a Boston Software Systems partner, The HCISolution worked with Boston Software Systems’ development staff to add leading edge technology and functionality that will advance automation to a whole new level and keep the company as the leading provider of automation software solutions.”

Industry connections have been added to Boston WorkStation in Version 10 that represent the company’s extensive experience with leading EHRs. These connections provide a framework for cross platform migrations within common EHRs such as Epic, Siemens Soarian, Cerner and Allscripts.

Addressing the growing need for accountability, Boston WorkStation Version 10 provides performance reporting tools that assist managers in understanding the value of automation.

General Usability Enhancements:

  • Embedded IE’s – Greatly simplifies the process of interaction with instances of Internet Explorer that may be embedded within an EHR’s screens.
  • DataStation – Functionality added to DataStation based on customer needs, including managing column width and automatic closure of Excel processes and support for tab delimited files.
  • File System Tools – Additional series of common files system needs such as retrieving file names based on patterns, purging and archiving.
  • Locked PC Override – Allows key commands to be sent and accepted even if the PC is locked.
  • Stycaption Support – This option allows users to communicate effectively with many Citrix published application and thick client EHR screens that programmatically do not have a caption, even though one is visible to the user.

Pricing and Availability
Boston WorkStation 10 is currently available. The software is sold as a run-time or developer license, and as a site or enterprise license for use throughout an organization.
